THC Sale Arrest

Newtown Police report that Michael Kraminsky, 18, of Newtown, was arrested at 1:30 pm February 8 following a police investigation into the sale of THC vape products to underage high school students. Kraminsky was charged with sale of a controlled substance (non-narcotic) and risk of injury to a child.

Kraminsky was released on a $5,000 bond with a court date of February 9 in Danbury Superior Court.

Making A False Statement

Newtown Police arrested Fred Samoskevich, 58, of Sandy Hook February 17 on the charge of making a false statement. Samoskevich turned himself in to Newtown Police headquarters after finding out there was an arrest warrant in his name originating from an investigation earlier in the month.

This arrest resulted from information Samoskevich provided on his Connecticut pistol permit application that was deemed false regarding his criminal history. Pistol permit applications are notarized documents that include a disclosure to the applicant that the information they provide is true and accurate under the penalty of law.

Samoskevich was released on a $5,000 bond, with a court date of March 14 in Danbury Superior Court.

Hit Light Post

Newtown Police report Kevin Almeida, 21, of Milford, operating a 2012 Toyota Camry, was traveling eastbound on Main Street at 2:16 am February 26. While negotiating a curve in the roadway, Almeida’s vehicle went off the right side of the road. Police say the right front tire of the vehicle collided with curbing, and then the vehicle drove over an embankment, before knocking down a metal light post.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed.

Almeida was issued an infraction for operating a motor vehicle without a license and making a restricted turn.

Hit Two Deer

Newtown Police report William Herrity, 61, of Naugatuck, operating a 2013 Audi Q5, was traveling eastbound on Sugar Street at 6:47 pm February 27. Two deer entered the roadway from the westbound lane and the front left bumper of Herrity’s vehicle struck one deer and then struck the second deer.

No injuries were reported. Herrity’s vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

No enforcement action was taken.

Hit Rock In Road

Newtown Police report Scott Cicciari, 56, of Newtown, operating a 2016 Lexus GS 350, was traveling southbound on Pine Tree Hill Road when it struck a rock in the middle of the lane at 6:46 pm March 2. The rock damaged the undercarriage of the vehicle.

No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed due to disabling damage.

No enforcement action was taken.

Larceny And Forgery

Newtown Police report Mark Manley, 52, of Newtown, was arrested by officers at 6 pm March 4, and charged with sixth-degree larceny, second-degree forgery, and two counts of first-degree violation of conditions of release, He was released on a $25,000 bond with a court date of March 6 in Danbury Superior Court.

Multiple Charges

Newtown Police report that John Nagy, 65, of Southbury, was arrested at 10:58 pm March 4 on the charges of operation of an unregistered motor vehicle, illegal operation of a vehicle without minimum insurance, and illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under suspension. He was released on a promise to appear with a court date of March 14.

Unlicensed, Unregistered, Uninsured

Newtown Police report Jaylin Gentile, 23, of Naugatuck, was arrested at 11:15 am March 5 on the charges of operation of an unregistered motor vehicle, illegal operation of a vehicle without minimum insurance, and illegal operation of a motor vehicle while under suspension. He was released on a promise to appear with a court date of March 21.

Theft Of License Plates

Newtown Police report Scott Preszler, 22, of Newtown, was arrested at 8:49 pm March 5 on the charges of theft of license plates, third-degree criminal mischief, and sixth-degree larceny. He was released on a promise to appear with a court date of March 21.
