Fairfield County’s largest annual giving event is quickly approaching.

On Thursday, February 23, Fairfield County’s Community Foundation (FCCF) will celebrate its final Giving Day, closing the chapter on ten years of success with 24-hour virtual fundraising marathons that have helped build the fundraising capacity for hundreds of local nonprofits.

Fairfield County’s Giving Day 2023 will offer one final opportunity for residents and supporters of Fairfield County nonprofits to show financial support during the concentrated online day of giving.

“For the past nine years, we have had the honor of witnessing our community rally together in support of nonprofits of all sizes and causes on Giving Day,” said Mendi Blue Paca, Fairfield County’s Community Foundation’s president and CEO. “While this final Giving Day on February 23 may be a bittersweet moment, it is also an exciting beginning of a new chapter that will allow us to serve our local nonprofits in even more engaging, timely and equitable ways so all of us can thrive.”

In alignment with the foundation’s new strategic plan Fairfield County Forward, FCCF will continue to support nonprofit capacity building through the responsive programming of its Center for Nonprofit Excellence.

“We listened deeply to our nonprofit partners through a strategic planning process and learned that the fundraising landscape has evolved,” said Blue Paca. “We couldn’t be more inspired by the new possibilities of what’s to come, and we hope the community will come together again to make this final Giving Day a huge success.”

Since 2014, Fairfield County’s Giving Day has raised $13.75 million for Fairfield County nonprofits. In 2022, there were approximately 17,000 donations made during the event, raising more than $2 million.

February 23, Locally

This year, Giving Day is anticipating that nearly 400 organizations will participate. The donations window at FCGives.org will open at 12 am Thursday, February 23, and remain accessible through 11:59 pm.

The minimum donation is $10, and community members can view the complete list of Giving Day nonprofits and the causes they support by visiting FCGives.org.

As of February 15, local organizations registered to participate include Ben’s Lighthouse, The Children’s Adventure Center, Cyrenius H. Booth Library, EverWonder Children’s Museum, Friends of Edmond Town Hall/The Mary Hawley Society Inc of Newtown, Kitten Associates, Lions Low Vision Centers of Fairfield & New Haven Counties Inc, Merryhill Child Care Center Inc, Newtown Parent Connection, Newtown Youth & Family Services, Real Food CT, Sandy Hook Promise, and Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company.

More than 350 organizations across the county had registered as of that date.
