NFA Invasives Clearing, Photography Contest
Newtown Forest Association (NFA) has an upcoming public event and a competition underway.
The public is invited to join NFA members on Sunday, January 22, at 10 am, for an Invasive Species Task Force undertaking.
All are invited to meet near the red barn at Holcombe Hill Wildlife Preserve, 55 Great Hill Road, where they will learn how to properly identify and remove invasive species from local native habitats.
The program will conclude at noon.
Registration is requested and can be done by sending an email to christine.stgeorges@newtownforestassociation.
Cold Snap Photography Contest
Concurrently, NFA is conducting a photography competition highlighting its properties.
Photos must be taken before March 1 at any of the NFA properties; visit newtownforestassociation.org for a full list of locations across town that are owned and managed by the land trust. The competition has three age groups: 9 and under, 10-17 and 18+.
To submit a photo, post it on Instagram with the hashtag #NFAcoldsnap or email it to trent.mccann@newtownforestassociation.org. Each entry must include the name of the photographer, the age group they belong to, and the property where the photo was taken. There is a limit of three submissions per person.
Winners will be selected by the NFA membership at the end of the contest.
Nine winning submissions will be published on NFA’s website.
