DUI Arrest

Police said that they stopped motorist Jose Hernandez, 34, of Bridgeport about 11:23 pm on May 29 to investigate a motor vehicle violation near 170 South Main Street.

That investigation resulted in police arresting Hernandez on charges of driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right on a curve, driving too slowly, and driving without a license, police said.

Police later released Hernandez on $150 bail for a June 9 court appearance.

DUI Incident

While on patrol about 12:39 am on May 30, police stopped motorist Carlos Tenecora, 30, of Bridgeport on South Main Street near Sand Hill Plaza to investigate a motor vehicle violation.

Police said they charged Tenecora with driving under the influence, failure to drive to the right, and driving without a license.

Following processing, police released Tenecora on $100 bail for a June 10 court appearance

Bennetts Bridge

Motorist Christopher McArdle, 50, of 41 Bennetts Bridge Road, who was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry sedan near 50 Bennetts Bridge Road about 7:20 pm on May 20, encountered a deer which ran in front of the vehicle, resulting in a collision, police report.

McArdle was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

SUV Vs Truck

Antonio Oaxaca, 20, of Fairfield, who was driving a box truck, was waiting in southbound traffic near 228 South Main Street at about 6:26 pm on May 20, and was then struck from behind by southbound motorist Nico Pickerstein, 40, of Easton, who was driving a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder SUV, police said.

 Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps members treated Pickerstein at the scene for a minor injury, police said. Pickerstein received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, according to police.

Church Hill Accident

Motorist Judeann Haskins, 65, of Dudley, Mass., was driving a 2003 Buick LeSabre sedan westward on Church Hill Road, as motorist Elizabeth Alexander, 44, of 8 Fawnwood Road, was driving a 2004 Toyota Sienna minivan eastward there at about 4:35 pm May 24, police report.

The Buick then attempted to make a left turn to enter the Blue Colony Diner parking lot, but collided with the Toyota, police said.

 There were no injuries. Police issued Haskins a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Drug Charges

Police report they received information indicating that a 17-year-old male was in possession of illegal drugs at a Beechwood Drive residence, so they went there to investigate on the afternoon of May 21.

Police said they obtained permission to search the premises from the property owner and then gathered evidence, after which they arrested the boy on charges of possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The youth was released on $100 bail for a June 6 court appearance. State law shields the disclosure of the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.

Theft From Vehicle

Sometime between 7:50 am and 1:45 pm on May 23, someone entered an unlocked vehicle which was parked at a business at 75 South Main Street and stole a Pioneer-brand touch-screen DVD/radio device from the vehicle’s center console, police report. Police ask anyone with knowledge of the crime to contact investigating Officer John McCluskey at 203-426-5841.

Moving Violations

Police report that at about 2:26 pm on May 26, they stopped motorist Suzanne Bristol, 45, of New Hartford on Commerce Road to investigate, after which they charged her with failure to obey traffic markings and with driving with a suspended license.

Bristol was released on $100 bail for a June 7 court appearance, police said.

Three Charges

Police said they saw Ian Doerr, 21, of 49 Spring Trail driving past a stop sign without stopping and also driving over the road’s centerline near the intersection of Pine Street and Buttonball Drive on the afternoon of May 24. Police said they issued Doerr written warning for a stop sign violation and for failure to drive to the right.

Police said they also held a warrant for Doerr’s arrest in connection with an altercation that occurred in a commercial parking lot on Berkshire Road on January 21. Police then charged Doerr with second-degree breach of peace in connection with the past parking lot incident.

 Police released Doerr on $200 bail for a June 8 court appearance.

Queen Street MVA

Police report they responded to a two-vehicle accident on Queen Street, near Church Hill Road, about 8:23 pm on May 28.

After investigating the incident, police said they charged motorist Kristopher Crockett, 24, of 7 White Oak Farm Road with failure to drive a reasonable distance apart and with driving under suspension.

Police released Crockett on a written promise to appear in court on June 15.

MV Charges

Police said they stopped motorist Gregory M. Troche, III, 27, of Danbury to investigate on Berkshire Road, near Wasserman Way, about 9:20 am on May 24.

Police charged Troche with failure to wear a seatbelt, driving with a suspended license, and failure to renew a vehicle registration.

 Troche was released on $50 bail for a June 7 court appearance.

DUI Arrest

At about 7:35 pm on May 29, police responded to South Main Street, after receiving a report on an erratic driver there.

Police said they found the vehicle in question and watched it swerving on the road, after which they stopped it and investigated. Police said they then charged motorist George Appianing, 58, of Waterbury with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.

Police released Appianing on $100 bail for a June 14 court appearance.

Marijuana Arrest

After receiving a request to make a health-and-welfare check, police responded to an address on Homer Clark Lane and investigated at about 9 am on May 28.

Police said they charged a youth there, who is under age 18, with possession of less than four ounces of marijuana and with possession of drug paraphernalia.

 The youth was released on a written promise to appear in court on June 6, police said. State law shields the disclosure of the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.

 

Commuter Lot Incidents

State police report two criminal incidents having occurred at Interstate 84’s Exit 9 commuter parking lot on Hawleyville Road.

At 3:03 am on May 29, a complainant called state police to tell them of a theft from his vehicle. Someone had broken a rear window and stolen a roll of carbon fiber from inside the vehicle, state police said. The case is under investigation.

Also, while on patrol at about 11:54 pm on May 28, state police noticed that someone had intentionally shattered a passenger-side window of a 1997 Honda CRV which was parked in the lot.
