Nationally Honored Classical Guitarist Will Headline Adath Israel Coffee House

Guitar Foundation of America International Youth Competition Winner Yossi Kohrman-Glaser will use his musical talents to kick off The Little House That Roared Coffee House, a new series being offered at Congregation Adath Israel.The first performance in the series will be offered on Sunday, June 12, at 2 pm, at the synagogue, 115 Huntingtown Road in Newtown.

Yossi, 16, has been studying classical guitar for ten years. He was the first prize winner in the junior division in the 2009 Guitar Foundation of American International Youth Competition, and has also won four national level youth musical competitions.

He is a student of Andrew LaFreniere at Suzuki Talent Education School in Newtown. He was a soloist with Danbury Symphony Orchestra at its annual Pops concert.

Yossi is also accomplished on the piano, which he began playing at age four. He has been composing his own music since kindergarten and has composed for piano, classical guitar, recorder, string quartet and symphonic orchestra.

“I am really glad that I’m going to be playing this recital and I appreciate this chance to perform once again for The Little House That Roared. They are very supportive and appreciative of local talent and it was a lot of fun playing on the same stage with Tom Chapin back in March [during a family concert at Newtown High School also under the Little House That Roared banner],” said Yossi, who is finishing his sophomore year at NHS.

 “Anybody that has ever heard Yossi play the guitar knows that they are listening to a rare talent that only comes around once in a blue moon,” said Rabbit Shaul Praver. “If you were at our event in March, you will remember how awesome Yossi’s performance was.”
