Local Businessmen To Be Honored As âGood Scoutsâ
DANBURY â Newtown resident Ralph A. McIntosh, Jr, president of Del-Tron Precision, Inc, and Gary W. Hawley, president of Hawley Construction Corporation of Danbury, will receive the Good Scout Award at a luncheon to be held in their honor on October 12 at the Sheraton Danbury Hotel.
Another Newtown resident, Anthony E. Pajik, president of Branson Ultrasonics, will be serving as chairman for the event.
The Good Scout Award is presented to those who exemplify, in their daily lives, the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law. Recipients are chosen for their outstanding community service as evidenced by the interest and leadership given to many worthwhile organizations as well as the respect and esteem in which they are held by their colleagues.
The awards will be presented by the Connecticut Yankee Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
Ralph A. McIntosh, Jr, has worked at Del-tron Precision Inc, his familyâs business, for 28 years. He became vice president in 1985 and president in 1990 after the death of his father. Del-Tron Precisioin Inc was started by Ralph McIntosh, Sr, in 1974 and currently employs 60 people. Del-Tron manufactures linear motion devices that are sold worldwide.
Ralph McIntosh, Jr, serves as a director of the Savings Bank of Danbury, as chairman of the facilities committee at Immaculate High School, chairman of the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce, past chairman of the Workforce Development Committee, director of the Danbury War Memorial, and a director of the Danbury Hospital Development Fund. He and Gary Hawley co-chaired the Danbury Hospital Cancer Golf Tournament from 1997 to 2002, raising $1.5 million.
Mr McIntosh also is a director of the Housatonic Valley Sports Organization Committee, which was instrumental in bringing the Housatonic Valley Bike Race to the region. He is past president of Ridgewood Country Club, former chairman of the Del-Tron Richter Park ProAm, and former race director of the 98 Que City Center 10k. He has been a major supporter of many nonprofit organizations including Danbury Hospital, the Hanahoe Memorial Childrenâs Clinic, the United Way, and the Boy Scouts.
An avid runner, he enjoys golf and loves to surf cast for stripped bass on Cape Cod. He and his wifeDonna have three grown children and one grandchild.
A Danbury resident, Gary W. Hawley has served as president of the Hawley Construction Corporation since 1979. He serves as a director of the Savings Bank of Danbury, the Danbury Hospital Development Fund, Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce, and the Housatonic Industrial Development Corp. He is a past director of the N-P Development Corporation of Danbury and a past commissioner for the City Center Danbury.
He received the Centennial Award for Excellence in 2002 and the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2004, both from Western Connecticut State University. He and his wife, Cindy, have four children.
Anthony E. Pajik lives in Sandy Hook with his wife, Norma. They have four grown children and three grandchildren. A Vietnam veteran, he graduated summa cum laude from Lake Airy College with a bachelorâs degree in organizational and industrial management, and has been president of Danbury-based Branson Ultrasonics since 1998, after joining Emerson Electric, the parent company, in 1993.
Mr Pajik has been active in community organizations including the United Way of Northern Fairfield County, serving as campaign chairman for 2002-03 and 2003-04, and currently serves on the executive committee. He was active in the Western Connecticut State University Capital Campaign, the Danbury School and Business Collaborative, and was director of the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce. His employees are involved each year in the United Wayâs Day of Caring.
