Motorcycle Down
Richard Jubenville, 36, of Danbury was driving a 2003 Harley-Davidson VRSC-A V-Rod motorcycle northward on Hawleyville Road about 11:39 pm August 25, when he lost control of the motorcycle and it slid down onto its left side near the intersection of Hawleyville Road and Currituck Road, police report.
Jubenville received minor injuries in the accident and was transported to Danbury Hospital to be checked, police said. Jubenville was not wearing a helmet, but was wearing a leather jacket at the time of the crash, police said. The accident is under investigation.
Silver Pen Found
Police report that are holding for safekeeping a silver-colored Cross-brand ballpoint pen enclosed in a green gift box, which was found last spring at Newtown Middle School at 11 Queen Street. The person who lost the pen should contact Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841, to claim it.
Subaru Vs Deer
Motorist Catherine Ostar, 35, of Southbury was driving a 2004 Subaru Forester sport-utility vehicle eastward on Route 34 about 8 am August 23, when a deer entered the road and collided with the vehicle, police said.
Ostar was not injured, police said. No enforcement action was taken.
Money Found
Police have received for safekeeping a small amount of cash, which was found August 25 near the âFunspaceâ playground area in Dickinson Park. The owner of the money, who is able to identify the amount and denominations of the lost cash, may claim it by contacting Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station.
Sandy Hook Crash
Motorist Marie Russell, 62, of Shelton, who was driving a 1999 Acura 3.2-TL northward on Bennetts Bridge Road at about 9:20 am August 24, slowed to make a right turn onto Founders Lane and was then struck from behind by northbound motorist Jennifer Stalker, 30, of Ansonia, who was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer, police report.
There were no injuries. Police issued Stalker an infraction ticket for following too closely.
Mile Hill Road South
Motorist Suzanne Menz, 18, of 34 Plumtrees Road, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier southward on Mile Hill Road South about 9 pm August 23, encountered a deer that had run onto the road, police report. Menz swerved to avoid the animal, but lost control and went off the road, striking a tree along the southbound road shoulder, police said.
 Menz was not injured, police said. Police verbally warned her for failure to wear a seatbelt.
Chrysler Vs Chevrolet
Motorist Sandra Heinemeyer, 40, of Bethel, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Venture van southward near 79 Mt Pleasant Road, was stopped for traffic there at about 5:12 pm August 26, police said.
Southbound motorist Corey Regensburger, 17, of 2 Farm Field Ridge Rd, who was driving a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser, attempted to stop, but struck the rear end of the Chevrolet, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Regensburger an infraction ticket for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Mitsubishi Rollover
Motorist Ryan Kraft, 16, of 32 Yogananda Street was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer westward on Osborne Hill Road about 12:48 pm August 22, when after negotiating a curve, Kraft lost control of the auto, went off the road and struck a tree, with the auto coming to rest on its left side, police said.
Chris Kraft, 14, of the same address, was a passenger in the auto, police said. There were no injuries. The auto was heavily damaged.
Police issued Ryan Kraft an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn. Police said they also issued Ryan Kraft a violation for having a passenger in the vehicle while being a new 16-year-old driver.
Four Charges
Police report they charged Ivan Carlos Castano, 33, of 25 Underhill Road with third degree assault, threatening, interfering with police, and criminal violation of a protective order following an August 29 incident at that address. Police held Castano on $25,000 bail for an August 30 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Kia Hits Guardrail
Motorist Danielle MacNeer, 21, of Easton, Penn., who was driving a 2001 Kia Sephia sedan eastward on Interstate 84, east of Exit 11, about 6:40 am August 29, failed to negotiate a left curve in the road and struck guardrailing along the right road shoulder, state police said. MacNeer said she fell asleep while driving, state police said.
State police said MacNeer was transported to Danbury Hospital to be checked for possible injuries. State police warned MacNeer for failure to drive in the established lane.
Chevrolet Vs Volvo
State police report a two-vehicle accident on eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, about 4 pm August 27.
Motorist Gary Ruggiero, 54, of Milford, who was driving a 2000 Volvo S-80 sedan, stopped for traffic and was struck from behind by motorist Kevin Davidson, 20, of North Haven, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, state police said.
There were no injuries. State police issued Davidson an infraction ticket for following too closely.
Home Improvement
Newtown police report they arrested a Monroe man on August 30 on a warrant lodging four charges in connection with home improvement work.
After learning that they held a warrant for his arrest, Bill R. Leon, 38, of 7 Blakeman Drive, Monroe, turned himself over to Newtown police.
Police charged Leon with offering to make home improvements without being registered with the state, failure to furnish a customer with a contract containing a work cancellation clause, failure to provide a written three-day notice of cancellation, and also failure to provide a written three-day cancellation.
Newtown police said the warrant against Leon had been obtained by state officials. The charges stem from a May complaint concerning a Sandy Hook property, police said.
Newtown police released Leon on a promise to appear September 14 in Danbury Superior Court, after which Newtown police turned him over to Monroe police, who wanted Leon on other charges.
Three-Car Crash
Motorist Jared Eberly, 17, of 11 Pearl Street was driving a 1998 Jeep northward on South Main Street, as motorist Steven Navarra, 25, of New Milford was driving a 1987 Mazda RX-7 southward there about 5:30 pm August 30, police said.
At that time, motorist Antonio Mingachos, 47, of 8 Shamrock Lane, who was driving a 2002 Toyota pickup truck, began turning left onto southbound South Main Street from a commercial driveway at 151 South Main Street, police said.
The northbound Jeep braked and then slid on the wet road, striking the turning Toyota and then striking the southbound Mazda, police report. There were no injuries. Police issued Mingachos an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way.
Honda Vs Chrysler
Police report that motorist John Ruggiero, 62, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 2004 Chrysler Concorde westward on Church Hill Road about 2:54 pm August 31, stopped at the command of a traffic control agent near the driveway entrance to St Rose School.
Westbound motorist Patrick OâDell, 17, of 49 Schoolhouse Hill Road, who was driving a 1994 Honda Accord, then struck the Chrysler from behind, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued OâDell a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Main Street DUI
Motorist Holly Coolidge, 25, of Plainfield, who was driving northward on Main Street about 4:30 am September 2, crossed over into the southbound lane and nearly collided with a police patrol car that was entering Main Street from the police station parking lot, police said.
 Police said they followed Coolidge and saw her cross the roadâs center line again, after which they stopped her on Mt Pleasant Road, where she was found to be intoxicated. Police charged her with driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right.
After processing the arrest, police released Coolidge on $50 bail for a September 16 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Chevrolet Hits Ford
Motorist Matthew Baumgart, 20, of 8 Arrowhead Lane was driving a 1992 Chevrolet sedan eastward on Berkshire Road about 5:14 pm August 31, when the Chevrolet crossed the roadâs center line and then struck a parked, unoccupied 1999 Ford Explorer at 1 Berkshire Road, police said.
Baumgart, who was not injured, told police he may have briefly fallen asleep before the collision. Police issued him a written warning for failure to drive to the right.
