An elderly driver struck both a pedestrian and the front of the Stop & Shop building on South Main Street last week.

Newtown Police responded to a motor vehicle versus pedestrian call at 12:22 pm Friday, November 4.

The driver, Marie Connor, 84, of Monroe, and the pedestrian, Frederick Kelley, were both transported to Danbury Hospital for injuries they sustained in the incident.

The vehicle, a 2014 Cadillac XLS, was towed from the scene.

Botsford Fire Rescue firefighters and an inspector from the Town of Newtown Building Department also responded to the scene. The building was deemed structurally safe and allowed to remain open for business.

The incident is still under investigation.
