2014 Arts Festival Call To Artists
The Newtown Arts Festival has issued a Call to Artists for its 2014 event.
Now in its third year, the festival has attracted an average of 4,000 visitors each of its first two years. Set for September 13-14, the festival takes place on the Fairfield Hills campus.
“We are looking for artists and artisans, crafters, authors, dancers & unique food vendors” for the juried festival, said Stacey Olszewski, artisan contact.
The festival is juried in order to ensure success by limiting the number of booths per category and to maintain the arts festival goals, according to the application. Organizers look for handmade, original, unique and creative work and talents.
Booths are 10 by 10 feet. Fees are $105 for an space where the artist provides their own staked tent or canopy, and $225 for space within the Festival Tent. No electricity is provided for either of these options.
A Gallery Tent will also be offered, with electricity and coverage for weather sensitive works. Artists should contact Ms Olszewski for details about that location.
If affected into the festival, entry fees are non refundable.
Those applying to participate in the show will be asked to provide four photos of their work, or the website address where their work can be seen; offer a description of their work and its price range; and list shows and/or galleries where their work has been seen. Applicants will be asked whether they are 501(c)(3) non-profit whether their work is handmade, and must provide a CT Sales Tax number.
Deadline for applications is May 5. After that date, applications will be accepted until August 15 or until the show is filled, but many categories are expected to fill quickly, according to Ms Olszewski.
Applications are available on newtownartsfestival.com.
