SCAN To Host Dubreuil Painting Watercolor Landscape
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will welcome Diane Dubreuil to town on Wednesday, November 9, for a 7:30 pm program at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street.
Dubreuil plans to paint a landscape with watercolors while discussing her technique.
The demonstration is open to the public, free of charge.
Dubreuil is primarily a plein air artist who uses watercolor as her medium of choice. For nearly 25 years she worked as a digital artist and art director for the famed children’s author Mercer Mayer.
She is also a former chairwoman of New Milford Commission on the Arts, having served on the commission for more than 25 years, and is a retired co-director of Gallery 25 and Creative Arts Studio in New Milford.
She is a signature member of the International Plein Air Painters Worldwide, a juried member of New England Watercolor Society, and a member of CT Plein Air Painters, NH Plein Air Painters, Plein Air Painters of Maine, and several local Connecticut and Maine art organizations.
Throughout the pandemic year and a half, she spent most of her time in Maine with family and painting the landscape around her. In autumn 2021 she was awarded the position of visiting artist in Baxter State Park and spent two weeks painting the fall landscape in the great north woods of Maine.
In October 2022 she attended Fall Color Week at Acadia National Park, a week-long plein air event hosted by PleinAir Magazine Publisher Eric Roads.
Her paintings can be seen in regional shows and galleries or by appointment.
Reservations are not taken for SCAN events but additional information can be found at SCANart.org.
