‘Pilgrims Of Hope’ To Speak At Trinity Church
Rector Andrea Castner Wyatt is inviting the Newtown community to a presentation at Trinity Episcopal Church, to be offered by the Very Rev Canon Alan G. Dennis and Jenny Dennis on Wednesday, November 9, at 6:30 pm.
Rev Alan and Mrs Dennis will share “Pilgrims of Hope: Living in Apartheid South Africa and Participating in the First Democratic Elections.” They will share reflections on the challenges they faced, professionally and personally, as Rev Alan ministered as an Anglican Priest under the leadership of Archbishop Desmond Tutu in their homeland of South Africa.
Trinity Church members recently celebrated the announcement that Rev Alan Dennis will reside as a member of Trinity’s Priest Associate. The designation is a common one in the Episcopal Church for a retired clergyperson who chooses to offer service — at times of their own choosing — in various aspects of ministry in a home parish. Rev Dennis plans to offer his gifts in the areas of liturgy and spirituality. This is not a staff position; Rev Dennis is also busy providing pulpit supply in many local churches without settled clergy in Connecticut and New York.
The program will be in the Johnson Room/Library on the main floor of the church, 36 Main Street. Ample parking and an elevator are available for easy access.
Additional information is available and reservations can be made by contacting Trinity Church at 203-426-9070 or trinity@trinitynewtownct.org.
