This year’s annual cancer care benefit, planned for Sunday at C.H. Booth Library, will have two host groups.

Newtown United and Newtown Woman’s Club are preparing for this very special event. Danbury Regional Hospice has been chosen as the 2022 benefit recipient.

The Halloween Festival will be held on Sunday, October 23, noon to 5 pm, in the meeting room of the library, 25 Main Street.

All are invited for the 20th anniversary year, with Halloween Boo Boxes available for purchase. Organizers are offering them in three versions, ranging in price from $8 to 20, depending on style, size and details. Each is filled with candy, treats and novelties, and they make a great gift for kids and adults alike.

In addition, the festival will have unique offerings from a select group of local artisans including jewelry by Pat Bailey and Michelle Rosenthal, works by glass artist Heidrun Morgan, and Michaella Graziano/The Hunter And The Bear whimsy gifts and crafts.

An art gallery area will feature demure size paintings by Newtown artists Jeanne Eleck and Ingrid McCullough.

Rounding out the day of fun will be complimentary face painting and temporary tattoos, fortune telling, and light refreshments. In addition, every child attired in a costume or mask will receive a free Halloween treat bag.

Event chairs Rosemary Rau and Marie Sturdevant promise everyone will leave “with a smile on your face and in your heart,” Rau said.
