Genealogy Club To Host ‘Trace Your CT Revolutionary Roots’
The next meeting of the Genealogy Club of Newtown is scheduled for Wednesday, October 12, at 7 pm via Zoom. It will feature Brynna O’Sullivan’s presentation entitled “Trace Your CT Revolutionary Roots.”
The program will introduce attendees to the major sources that trace service records during the Revolution, from pension files to town meeting records.
Brynna O’Sullivan fell in love with genealogy as an elementary school student, when she discovered that her family was descended from the Mayflower passengers she was studying. In the years since, she has followed her ancestors through Revolutionary War Quebec, the prison camps of the American Civil War, and many other locations.
After more than ten years researching her own family and that of clients, she still retains the joy in discovering the incredible stories of our past.
Now a lineage society application specialist, O’Sullivan works hard to make her clients’ application process as stress-free and enjoyable as possible. In her ten years of experience, she has assisted clients in joining the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, the National Society Colonial Dames of America, and many others.
She is based in Middletown, and earned a BA in History and French Literature, an MA in History, and an MA in Theology. O’Sullivan has also completed the Boston University Certificate in Genealogical Research, the National Institute for Genealogical Studies Professional Learning Certificate in Genealogical Studies, the ProGen Study Group, the DAR’s Genealogical Education Program, among other significant courses.
All meetings of the Genealogy Club of Newtown are co-sponsored by C.H. Booth Library. Members of the Genealogy Club will receive an invitation to join the Zoom meeting. Others are welcome to attend and invited to send a request for the link via e-mail, including name, address, phone number, and email address, to genclubnewtownct.secretary@gmail.com.
Plan to sign in at 6:45 pm so that everyone will be admitted before the meeting begins promptly at 7 pm.
