Foran Planning Open Studio With Original Art & Jewelry
Anne Marie Foran will host her first Open Studio on Sunday, October 9, 1 to 4 pm, at her home studio, 44 Echo Valley Road in Newtown.
Displays will include original art work and unique jewelry.
Foran has been a resident along with her late husband Ray Sipherd for the past 38 years and has been engaged in painting, sculpting, and jewelry making for that period of time.
She earned a BA in studio art from Marymount Manhattan and has studied with Daniel Greene for portraiture, and at Washington Art Association for oil, watercolor, pastel and sculpting. She has also studied jewelry making at Brookfield Craft Center.
Her work can be found in private art collections across the country. She has participated in group shows with Washington Art Association, The Mattatuck Museum, The Cape Cod Museum of Art, and Marymount Gallery in New York City.
She has additionally had one-artist shows at C.H. Booth Library, The Brookfield Theater for the Arts Gallery, The Silo in New Milford, and Marty’s Cafe in Washington Depot.
Because she is so inquisitive by nature, her style is definitely eclectic. She will mix cold wax, found objects and oil pastels until the desired effect is achieved. She may also sand a particular passage into her paintings.
“Today, my love of art is who I am,” said Foran. “My dream is to share my work with others who will look upon it, welcome it into their lives and come to love it as I do.”
