With profound sadness, the family of Cynthia M. Cowen shares her unexpected but peaceful passing on September 2, 2022.

Cindy was born on November 27, 1961, in Paramus, N.J. Starting at a young age, her work ethic was strong. Beginning with door-to-door sales at 15 years old and consistently getting academic honors in school, she worked various jobs, eventually putting herself through college, earning her bachelor’s degree from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn.

Whatever Cindy set her hand to, she fulfilled with quiet pride and great determination. She had a wide range of interests and was extraordinarily creative, from crafting a beautiful gardenscape in her backyard that would rival any professional to, in recent years, picking up an interest in real estate. Here was where she was able to put her creative and intellectual abilities to great use by purchasing, staging, and flipping multiple properties, all of which was done with great joy and vigor. What little time she took to relax and enjoy, she did with great passion as well, taking European vacations and skydiving to name just two. After some 15 years of working at Boehringer Ingelheim in Connecticut, she was promoted to labeling director — a position which she enjoyed for the last several years.

Cindy deeply loved her family and friends and was always available to lend a hand or a listening ear. She shared her resources freely and always gave more than she received. Her door was always open, as was her heart. She loved witty conversation, great wine, and was the proud owner of a glorious, contagious laugh which was wonderfully infectious. She loved animals of all kinds, most particularly her dogs. Dog, as she would say, is god spelled backwards, and she certainly treated them like they were His little helpers. The love of her life, however, was her son, Grandon. She poured all she could of her mind, heart, and soul into raising him to be the smart, successful, compassionate young man he is today.

Cindy is survived by Grandon Thomas Smith of Flagstaff Ariz.; her brother, Joey Cowen of Newtown Conn.; her niece, Hunter (Cowen) Ballew, and husband, Nick, of Knoxville Tenn., and a core group of passionately loyal friends spread all across the country. She will find her resting place with her three beloved fur babies who passed before her, Tucker, Hershey, and Mister Magoo.

Rest in peace dear lady ... we will look for you in the clouds above, beautiful flowers below, and among the rainbows you cherished so dearly. Until we meet again.
