Newtown Forest Association (NFA) has announced plans to hold a sunset wine tasting at its Holcombe Hill Preserve, 65 Great Hill Road, on Saturday, September 10, at 4 pm.

This will mark the fifth time the event has held since 2014, and the first since 2019.

NFA President Bart Smith said he and organizers “are so excited to bring this fun evening back for the community.

“Over the past couple of years, we weren’t able to have as many organized events, but during that time the use of our open spaces has risen dramatically,” he added. “This is a great opportunity to get everyone together to enjoy this amazing space.”

NFA’s headquarters — located at the highest point in Newtown — will be alive with music by Sundad from 4 to 8 pm.

Wine will be supplied by Bottlestop Wine and Spirits. In addition, both of Newtown’s craft breweries — NewSylum and Reverie — will supply locally made beer. Food and hors d’oeuvres will be served throughout the entire wine tasting by Aquarian Caterers. Many other local merchants including Holmes Fine Gardens, Planters Choice Nursery, Uncle Matt’s Bakery, Appleberry Farm, and Associated Carting will be providing services to help make the evening a success.

NFA Executive Director Trent McCann is excited, he said, for his first NSA Wine Tasting.

“Since I first came on board last year, people have been asking me if we’d be bringing back this great event,” McCann said. “I’m really looking forward to sharing in a night of revelry with all of our supporters from the Newtown community.”

Guests must be at least age 21 to attend.

Newtown Forest Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Since 1924, it has been preserving open spaces in Newtown, currently managing over 1,400 acres of protected land.

The oldest private land trust in Connecticut, NFA is a volunteer organization and is not supported by tax dollars.
