To the Editor:

I just read the article related to the eviction of the UCONN Extension service from the location on Stony Hill in Bethel.

What a sad day when this community service becomes the victim of a landlord/tenant dispute. The lack of explanation of the dispute details help feed the “rumor mill” and leave the public with yet another sense of loss.

Telling the public that the only plan is “for UCONN to leave” makes one suspicious of motives.

In spite of the many volunteer hours contributed by both the landlord and tenants, does the problem really have to result in eviction? Is it really so difficult to work through the issues to preserve this service?
