To the Editor:

The Newtown Bee Snapshot on August 14 featured Robert W. Schmidt. It was a great article but what should have been included was his many achievements.

Bob is a past president of the Connecticut School Counseling Association, the Connecticut Counseling Association and the Connecticut Association for Counseling and Supervision. He also served as American Counseling Association North Atlantic Regional Chair.

Most noteworthy is he received the ACA’s Samuel T. Gladding Unsung Hero Award for his work after the Sandy Hook tragedy and for his leadership role in state and national counseling associations.

I know all this because I read his very interesting and informative book Finding Resilience, Unlock the Door to Mental Health and Happiness.

This is an excellent self-help book that everyone should read whether you are depressed, have anxiety problems, sleep disorders, etc, or no mental issues, read this book.

The author gives a step-by-step procedure offering various techniques to attain what the title states without the use of drugs. I especially enjoyed the book because it contains a few pictures. I enjoy books that have pictures; it gives me a chance to use my crayons now that I’ve learned to stay inside the lines.
