The last days of the summer at Dickinson Memorial Park’s Newtown Parks & Recreation’s Day Camp program were filled with celebrations.

Summer began for children in Newtown Parks & Recreation’s day camp programs at both Dickinson Memorial Park and Treadwell Memorial Park on June 20 this year with the start of the day camp programs. The program at Treadwell Memorial Park ended on August 5, and the program at Dickinson Memorial Park continued for an extra week.

Newtown Parks & Recreation Assistant Director of Recreation Rose Ann Reggiano said in the last week of Day Camp that the summer overall at both camp programs was “Excellent. Absolutely fabulous.”

Reggiano said the “awesome” day camp staff helped make the summer great at both Day Camp programs.

There were a lot of presentations offered at both programs throughout the summer, and in the second to last week at Dickinson Memorial Park Day Camp, a bounce house and slip and slide were set up on August 5. That day also had a luau party, for which camp counselors and children were encouraged to wear Hawaiian-themed clothes.

Then the following week, celebrations continued, with a presentation by Hearts of Hope on August 8, a foam party overseen by The Party Troupe of Wallingford on August 9, and an interactive music experience presented by Day Rock of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., happened on August 11, the second to last day of camp for the summer at Dickinson Memorial Park.

Reggiano said the summer’s motto was, “The best summer ever.”

“And this was the best summer ever,” said Reggiano.
