‘Gatsby In Connecticut’ Screening & Director Discussion, July 19
Maplewood at Newtown will host a film screening and Q&A with director Robert Steven Williams on Tuesday, July 19. The senior living community is at 166 Mount Pleasant Road.
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s masterpiece The Great Gatsby has become synonymous with the lifestyle of the rich and famous on Long Island. But what if that connection is false?
The argument that the real West and East Egg can be found on the other side of Long Island Sound is brilliantly argued in the 2020 documentary Gatsby In Connecticut: The Untold Story. Featuring Sam Waterston and narrated by Keir Dullea, the documentary was selected by The New Yorker as one of the best movies of 2020.
On July 19 at 2 pm, Maplewood will host a screening of the documentary. The 100-minute program will continue with a post-screening discussion with the award-winning director.
There is no cost to attend, but seating is limited and reservations are required. Contact Deb Laudano at NewtownRSVP@MaplewoodSL.com or 203-426-8118. Guests are asked to have their vaccination card with them when they arrive.
