On The Courts ... Youth Basketball Results

Grade 5 Girls Travel

Wilton 29, Newtown 21: A great offensive effort by Casey Harkins, Katie Mossbarger, and Katie Laaksonen, and a strong defensive effort by Maren Brady, Haley Ryan, and Caitlin Linden was not enough to secure a win.

Newtown 13, Southbury 10: Caitlin Linden, Lindsay Hoyt, and Casey Harkins led the offensive attack while Katie Mossbarger had multiple steals. Lauren Wilcox, Alana Murray, and Kelly Merrick anchored the defense to come from behind for a league victory.

Newtown 36, Monroe 24: Strong play by Alana Murray, Haley Ryan, and Katie Laaksonen led the offense, while Lauren Wilcox, Lindsay Hoyt, Kelly Merrick, and Maren Brady sparked the defense to a decisive win.

Bantam Girls

Blue Lightening 20, Wildcats 2: Jessica Maturo led the scoring for the Blue Lightening. Lauren King, Natalie Shaker, and Nicole Zaccaro each added key baskets. Caitlyn White and Lexi Barra played tenacious defense, while Nicole Frascatore led the team with five rebounds.

Comets 12, Blue Devils 11: In a tightly contested battle, the Comets outlasted the Blue Devils. Megan Goylda and Camden Maroney proved to be the offensive stars for the Comets. Casey Muckell had two key steals for the Comets, while Isabelle Luciano and Lauren Cirone played strong overall defense. Olyvia Shaw was the offensive leader for the Blue Devils, while Claire Swanson anchored the defense. Emily Neave and Erin Tressler demonstrated fine passing skills as they co-led the team in assists, and Isabelle Silver controlled the boards.

Tigers 18, Piranhas 16: The Tigers overcame a 16–10 lead in the fourth quarter to squeak out a hard-fought victory. Meghan Doyle and Emily Dirga led the scoring for the Tigers, while Chloe Kasak was a rebounding force. Isabelle Pryor and Lexie Riano had a strong overall games. Jillian Pieretti was the leading scorer for the Piranhas. Sarah Cizmazia showed great hustle, and Madeliene Meier had some key rebounds.

Junior Boys

The Team 47, Heat 46: For The Team, Chris Erikson was the high scorer with 11 points. Zach Bergeron had 3 steals, Kaleb Rowe had 6 rebounds. For Heat, Justin Devellis was the high scorer with 33 points. Ryan Errico had 2 assists, Ryan Rosenberger had 3 steals and Nick Madden had 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.

Wildcats 47, Knicks 44: For the Wildcats Andrew Martinez was high scorer with 19 points. Brandon Callary led the defense and Virgil Proccarini had 8 assists. For the Knicks, Patrick Riccardi led the scoring with 25 points followed by Ivan Hutchison with 8 points. Matt White was the defensive star and Daniel Bethke was the rebound leader.

Tarheels 49, Nets 38: For the Tarheels, Drew Tarantino led the scoring with 16 points. Chase Hutchinson was the assist leader, Steve Rahr was the defensive star and Ben Payne was the rebound leader. For the Nets, Angel Santos led the high scoring performance with 14 points, followed by Brendan Peterson with 8 points. Joe Calbo and Justin Adsit-Weiner played strong defense.

Celtics 46, Grizzlies 44: For the Celtics, Andrew Ryan hit a buzzer-beater to lift the Celtics. Christian Barrett led the scoring with 18 points. Tom Floros was the defensive star and Danny Cummings was the rebound leader. For the Grizzlies, Max Lopez and Tommy Catalinia led the high scoring effort with 9 points each. Ty Runkle had 3 steals and Hunter Law had 6 rebounds. Matt Janco played great defense.

Nighthawks 47, Trashtalkers 41: For the Nighthawks, Mike Scharfenberg was the high scorer with 29 points. Nick Norberg had 9 rebounds. Brock Chimileski and Mike Barton added 6 points each. Matt Wood, Daniel Winn and Samuel Adams played well. For the Trashtalkers, Jamie “Yao Ming” MacDonald led the high scoring with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Marks had 13 points. Matt Shannon was the defensive star.

Gators 32, Runnin Rebels 29: For the Gators, Pat Thornberg led the scoring with 8 points. Harry Snellback had 2 assists, Wes Morlock had 2 steals and Austin Hubbert had 8 rebounds. For the Runnin Rebels, Christian Mather led the scoring with 8 points, followed by Drew Sullivan with 6 points. Doug Miller had 3 assists and Greg Larussa had 7 steals.

Bricklayers 40, Huskies 37: For the Bricklayers, Jack Champagne and Jonah Muniz led the scoring with 12 points each. Phillip Reynolds had 8 assists, Charlie Helgren had 6 steals and Andrew Volkers had 7 rebounds. For the Huskies, Pat Mullins led the high scoring with 14 points followed by Dean Demers with 12 points. Jack Lago had 4 steals. Mike Davenport had 2 points with 2 rebounds.

Bullets 45, Warriors 39: For the Bullets, Chris Devaney was the high scorer with 14 points. Kevin Shpunt had 6 assists. Tyler Gibney was the rebound leader. For the Warriors, Brandon Cooper led the high scoring with 16 points, followed by Colin Post with 8 points. Patrick Pierce had 3 assists and Chris Otero had 2 steals.

Warriors 31, Gators 29: For the Warriors, Eric Fiore led the scoring with 12 points and 4 assists, followed by Otto Kerler with 6 points. Ryan Pisani had 3 steals and Collin Post had 6 rebounds. Collin Post hit the winning shot following a steal to seal the win. For the Gators, Alec Beauchemin led the scoring with 8 points. Sean Reilly had 2 assists, Harrison Snellback had 2 steals and Owen Gaston had 6 rebounds.

Bullets 47, Grizzlies 30: For the Bullets Kevin Shpunt and Chris Devaney were the high scorers with 10 points each. Michael Dinielli had 4 points. For the Grizzlies, Ty Runkle led the way with 12 points. Hunter Lowe had 4 assists, Matt Janco had 3 steals, and Max Lopez had 8 rebounds. Runkle hit three 3-pointers.

Bricklayers 46, Runnin Rebels 42: For the Bricklayers, Johan Muniz led the scoring with 17 points, followed by Jack Champagne with 12 points. Andrew Derrickson had 6 assists and Tom Bayer had 8 rebounds. For the Runnin Rebels, Christian Mather led the scoring with 15 points along with Riley Cross, who had 13 points. Doug Miller had 6 assists, Greg LaRussa had 5 steals, and Drew Sullivan had 8 rebounds.

Wildcats 55, Celtics 38: For the Wildcats Virgil Procaccini led the scoring with 15 points, followed by Andrew Martinez, who had 12 points. Matt Barra and Austin Raftery led the defense. For the Celtics, Cameron McCleary led the scoring with 8 points. Christian Barret was the assist leader, Tom Floros was the defensive star, and Dan Cummings was the rebound leader.

 

Grade 6 Boys In House

Screaming Eagles 28, Celtics 17: The Screaming Eagles used a great team effort and balanced scoring attack to get past the Celtics. Andy “Wolfman” DeWolfe, Ryan Sullivan, and Jaret DeVellis combined for 14 points, Connor LeMay controlled the backboards with 8 rebounds, Will Dalton blocked 6 shots and “Smilin” Kyle Mangold tallied 3 second-half steals.

Wolves 24, Nets 23: Michael Cirone hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer, thanks to a Jack Corbett steal with 7 seconds remaining. Corbett passed to Kaj Djonne who set up Cirone for the game winner as time expired. Michael Cirone and Zachary Weiland each scored 8 points and Trevor Lopez added 2 huge baskets to pace the offense. Jeremy Fellin (4 steals) played fantastic defense and prevented many fast break baskets with his relentless hustle on defense.

Celtics 41, Semi-Pros 28: The Celtics got back on the winning track against the ever tough Semi-Pros. Leading the C’s offense was Danny “The General” Colucci, who when not dishing out assists to his teammates was sticking 17-foot jumpers while coming off screens. John “The Wall” Narducci, who’s known for his side-splitting picks on offense, also stepped up and led the C’s defense with multiple steals and his trapping defense against the larger opponent. C.J. “D-town” Dunn, Andrew “End-to-End” Cragin and The General each had 8 points in the Celtics’ victory. Harry DePuy played a tremendous overall game for the Semi-Pros, scoring 8 points, pulling down 12 rebounds dishing out 5 assists and making 4 steals. James Burdette was high scorer, dropping in 12 points, and Jimmy Widmann made a key basket in the Semi Pros comeback attempt. Michael Unschuld was all over the court on defense, pulling down 5 rebounds and making several excellent defensive plays.

Dragons 32, Semi-Pros 29: Robby Schreiber and Sawyer Conrad combined for 12 points as  the Dragons held on for the victory. Sean Kemsley and Bobby Lydon played suffocating defense, while David Csordas was the leader under boards. James Burdette led the Semi-Pros offensive attack, making several key shots while scoring a team high 14 points. Mark Dowling and Jimmy Widmann spearheaded a tenacious defense effort. Eric Gibbons pulled down 5 rebounds and Joe Stromsky led the team with 5 steals.

Grade 5 Boys

Celtics 36, Knicks 18: Nicholas Samuelson led the Celtics with 9 points, getting assists from Nick Bourgeois and James Barry. On defense, George Salaris and Lucas LaDestro were everywhere grabbing rebounds and making steals. For the Knicks, Nicholas Genovese was on fire, leading his team with 12 points with timely assists from Kyle Keeping and John DelRossi. Gabriel Barrett and Sam Duffy anchored the defense with 4 steals and 6 rebounds, respectively.

Raptors 39, Wolfpack 19: Spencer Johnson scored 10 points to lead the Raptors, with Trevor Gaines adding another 4 points. Dillon Palumbo provided some timely assists on offense with Dylan Salano and Matt Campbell creating turnovers and grabbing rebounds. James Frazzetta scored 9 points to lead the Wolfpack, getting help from Kevin Finnegan. Daniel Pearson created some turnovers on defense and Markus Wessel commanded the boards with 5 rebounds.

Huskies 37, Bruins 35: Mason Melillo scored 9 points and Bobby Katrinak added another 8 points to lead the Huskies, with James Accousti dishing the assists. Geoff Santore led the defense with 5 steals with Matt Meyers and Nathan Williams each grabbing key rebounds. Kieran Lynch scored 8 points to lead the Bruins, with Christian Thanasoulis leading the team with assists. Patrick Briscoe and Cole Terry made their presence known on defense creating turnovers and rebounding on both ends of the court.

Giants 33, Nighthawks 23: Declan Sullivan and Tim VanderHave each scored 10 points to lead the Giants, getting key feeds in the paint from Nicholas Rohrbacher. Shawn McCarthy created turnovers with 4 steals and Andrew Drap added to the defense with 6 rebounds. The tireless Maxim Donaher tossed in 5 points to lead the Nighthawks, getting support from Austin LeBlanc with 5 assists. Charlie Fletcher lead the team with steals and Matt Davis grabbed a majority of the rebounds for his team.

Grade 4 Bantam Boys

Red Devils 17, Orange Fire 11: Devils were led by Will Huegi with 8 points and Austin Kasbarian with 7 points. Nick Lametto led the way on defense while Rob Lombardo and Nicholas Trivedi cleared the boards. Orange Fire was led by Jack Lavelle with 8 points. Matt Guinee was terrific on defense with 3 steals and Alex Hess had 5 rebounds.

 Green Rockets 31, Gladiators 24: Green Rockets were led by Alex Dunleavy and Michael Liberante with 10 points each. Robert Hutchins had 3 assists, Cameron Mitchell was everywhere on defense with 10 steals, and Connery Mayer cleaned the boards with 6 rebounds. Austin Engler threw in 12 points for the Gladiators, while Matt Bucci chipped in with 6. Bryan Morrissey had 6 boards and Tyler LaCroce, 5 steals.

Wizards 37, Huskies 25: Thomas Cotton had 17 points for the Wizards. Brandon Pavlicek had 3 assists while R.H. Clark had 7 boards. Owen McInerey led with 8 points. Jordan Klein had 3 assists, Bryce Griffin was a standout on defense and Brian Kerins had 5 rebounds.

Men-in-Black 22, Flaming Monkeys 21: In a defensive struggle the Men-in-Black were led by Joe Accousti with 6 points and Dylan Kretz with 4 points. Ryan Brello excelled on defense and Mitchell Long had 10 rebounds. Graham Dowd led the way on offense for the Flaming Monkeys with 5 points. Jason Hebner had 6 boards while Oliver Wood and Quinlan Hart played great defense.

Green Rockets 31, Orange Fire 30: Green Rockets were led by Michael Liberante with 11 points. Alex Dunleavey had 5 assists, Cameron Mitchell had 5 steals, and Matt Krasnickas had 4 rebounds. Orange Fire was led by Colby Olsen and Jack Lavelle with 8 points each. Matt Kretz had 3 assists. Matt Guinee was terrific on defense with 3 steals and Alex Hess had 5 rebounds.

 Gladiators 22, Flaming Monkeys 20: Austin Engler threw in 8 points for the Gladiators while Matt Bucci had 6 assists. Charles Romano had 6 steals, while Jack Palermo had 5 boards.

Wizards 22, Red Devils 12: Thomas Cotton had 7 points for the Wizards. Stephen Moccio had 4 assists, Joey Conrod had 3 steals while R.H. Clark had 4 boards. Will Huegi led the Red Devils with 4 points. Dylan Cortese, Nick Lametto and Austin Kasbarian all played well on defense.

Men-in-Black 26, Huskies 17: Men-in-Black were led by Jacob Steinebrey with 8 points and Spencer Burden with 6 points. Chad Azzarito excelled on defense and Devon Covert had 4 steals. Marc Lasorda had 5 points for the Huskies. Brian Kerins had 5 assist, Evan Kholstaat had 6 rebounds while Tim Cervera played great defense.

Midgets

Blue Devils vs Slammers: For the Blue Devils, Brian Vander Have, Luke Barrett, Ethan Aug, and Andy Greenwood played great offense, while Jacob Laros, Doug Carriero, James Clifford, and Luke Fischer were strong on defense. For the Slammers, Tom Coppinger, Bobby Elston, Andrew Gardner, and Ricky Mariani played great offense, while Thomas Fitzgerald, Connor Legault, and Matthew Jaeger were strong on defense.

Blue Devils vs Red Rockets: For the Blue Devils, James Clifford, Luke Barrett, Ethan Aug, and Zach Demeglio played great offense, while Vince Genovese, Adam Farley, Brian Vander Have, and Layton Harrell were strong on defense. For the Red Rockets, Robert Murray, Thomas Briscoe, Aidan Ford, and Adam Wolff played great offense, while David Daria, Charlie Asetta, Gavin Connors, and Aidan Moulder were strong on defense.

Team Number 2: For Team Number 2, Shea Talbot, Henry Vaughan, and Harry Lucas played great offense while Cameron MacDonald, Owen Rahr, and Alex Wong were strong on defense.
