Senior Gold Girls
Gold 12, Pomperaug 3: Olivia Phenix scooped up 3 ground balls and Brianna Leblanc made 4 saves in the victory. Cassie Ekstrom picked off 3 passes and Lindsey Jagoe had an assist. Goals were scored by Allie Samson, Libby DiDomizio, Caroline Kingsley, Jagoe, Julia Trudell, Meaghan Brophy, Kristy VosWinkel, Erin Kenning, Paige Murphy and Meaghan Harkins.
Gold 10, New Fairfield 6: Jaclyn Dailey, Julia Trudell and Erin Kenning had 3 ground balls each and Brianna Leblanc had 9 saves. Goals were scored by Meaghan Brophy, Meaghan Harkins, Lindsey Jagoe, Trudell and Kenning.
Darien 14, Gold 8: Kristy Vos Winkel and Olivia Phenix had 3 ground balls each. Meaghan Harkins and Erin Kenning netted 3 goals apiece. Meaghan Brophy and Vos Winkel added one each as well.
New Milford Jamboree Tournament
The Gold went 2-1 in the tourney with victories over New Fairfield and Pomperaug and a loss in a close match against the host New Milford. Emily Maher led all players with 6 ground balls, while Kelly OâSullivan and Cassie Ekstrom had 3 apiece. Brianna Leblanc was strong in goal with 11 saves and a game-saver. Maddie Fletcher had 4 assists. Carly Ferris and Jaclyn Dailey were solid on defense. The attack was led by Erin Kenning and Meaghan Harkins, who combined for 5 goals. Other scorers were Allie Samson, Lindsey Jagoe, Libby DiDomizio, Kristy Vos Winkel, Paige Murphy, and Ferris. Caroline Kingsley and Julia Trudell controlled the midfield all day.
Senior Blue Girls
Senior Blue 11, Pomperaug Red 5: Outstanding goaltending by Brittany Boggs and Amanda Crowell combined with solid defense by Lauren Harrison and Mary Joe Rossi led to a Senior Blue victory. Katie McManus played well at midfield. Goals were scored by Noelle Benson, Crowell, Olivia Ingham, Maggie Kost, Julie LaPerch, Anna Northrop, Tressa Scott and Helena Sorenson.
Weston 9, Senior Blue 6: Taylor Reardon and Olivia Korth were fierce in goal. Ashley Headen, Julia DiLuoffo and Kelly OâConnell played well. Noelle Benson, Amy Caporale, Sydney Hanson, Julie LaPerch, Anna Northrop and Rachel Wiberg did the scoring for the Blue squad.
New Milford Jamboree
Senior Girls Blue 7, Ridgefield 3; New Fairfield Blue 8, Senior Blue 2; Senior Blue 4, Brookfield 4; Senior Blue 8, Monroe 1.
Strong goaltending performances by Anna Northrop, Brittany Boggs, Amanda Crowell and Bryanna LaBlanc led the Senior Girls Blue team to a 2-1-1 record at the New Milford Jamboree. Brittany Cologna, Mary Beth Semosky, Amy Caporale and Ashley Headen played well all day. The scoring attack was spread throughout the lineup as Noelle Benson, Olivia Korth, Mary Joe Rossi, Rachel Wiberg, Julie LaPerch, Sydney Hansen, Northrop, Crowell and Boggs found the net.
Bantam In-House Girls
For the Houndogs: Rylee Mulligan and Lauren Carrino combined for five goals. Brielle Chiefo added a goal and controlled midfield for the Dogs. Eleanor Frost played aggressive defense and won many ground balls. For the Smashers: Hayley Lambert had a great defensive game. Kiera Sughrue was quick on the attack. Newtown 3, Ridgefield 3: Emily Bell had an assist and 3 ground balls. Bridget Walsh and Olivia Holman played well on defense. Nikki Zaccaro played a solid game in goal. Nevan Gattney and Meghan Doyle led the offense with a goal and an assist each.
Newtown 5, Brookfield 3: Nevan Gattney had 2 goals and 2 assists for Newtown and Meghan Doyle added 2 goals. Lauren Zimmerman played well on defense, scooping up 4 ground balls. Elizabeth Cain also had a good defensive game and picked up 2 ground balls. Julia Sughrue had 2 assists and 3 ground balls.
Newtown 3, New Fairfield 3: Nikki Zaccaro led the offense with 3 goals and Caroline Caporale had 5 ground balls and a strong defensive game. Caroline Keane put in an excellent effort as goalie with 3 saves. Tessa Leon-Gambetta played well on defense and had an assist. Jillian Dimartino had a good all-around game, contributing an assist and 2 ground balls.
Junior Girls
Newtown Junior Gold 13, RELAX 11: In an exciting back and forth game the Junior gold team prevailed. Tess Baldino, Charlotte Stenz, Celia Gold and Haley Keane played great defense while Maddy Peck and Michaela Hall combined for 6 saves. Liza Eggleston, Casey Harkins and Laken Hughes had great games in the midfield. Katie Mossbarger led the team in ground balls with 6 while McKensie Hammons and Sierra Mather played well on attack.

Highlights from the day included Madeline Peck, Maddy Bridges and Laken Hughes combining for 9 saves. Alana OâDonnell and Casey Harkins led the team in ground balls with 6 apiece. The attack was led by Harkins, Bailey Solomons, Liza Eggleston, Lindsay Hoyt, Bridges, Mossbarger and Katie Cappelli.
Boys In-house Results
Bandits 3, Titans 1: The Bandits played a strong first half with two goals by Ethan Tousignant and one by Gino Pagliaro. The Bandits won the groundball battle, with Brendan Hall, Max Goldstein and Grenville Paynter leading the way. The Titans kept the game close with great goaltending by AJ Salaris and head-up play by Layton Harrell. Kyle Sullivan made a great moveto the cage to score the Titansâ only goal.
Shamrox 2, Roughnecks 2: Tyler Rising had several saves for the Roughnecks and the Shamrox used Mark Hall and Hans Sorenson between the pipes to keep it close. Scoring for the Roughnecks were Ethan Cox and Stewart Olson. Owen Rahr and Sean Dauber scored for the Shamrox.
Hopkins 8, Syracuse 5: Syracuse was led with great midfield play by Andrew Svanda, Erik Street and Joe Carrino and Sean McCafferty had a goal. Zach Aumueller, Aaron Beckett had great games for Hopkins.
Hofstra 9, Virginia 7: Hofstraâs Otto Kerler dominated the faceoffs, winning 4 in a row. Ryan Sullivan had a good ground ball in traffic and a goal. Owen Gray had a strong game in goal. For Virginia, Will Roman and Tommy Rahr had great games on defense.
Lizards 8, Dragons 4: For the Dragons Declan Sullivan, Jeremy Salaris and Kristopher Whelan all scored. Colin McCafferty had a great game defensively. Charlie Fletcher, Ethan Hoffman, Ryan Marusi, Nicholas Genovese and Owen McInerney all scored. Elliot Gregory had a great game.
Travel Results
Bantam Blue 4, Danbury Bantam Orange 4: Newtownâs offense was led by Ethan Cox with 3 goals and a game-tying score as time expired by Kyle Sullivan. Sean Dauber, Alex Street and Campbell Halloran worked hard for ground balls to keep the pressure on Danbury throughout the game.
Bantam Gold 5, Brookfield Bantam Blue 2: Newtown Gold controlled the pace of play with solid passing and ball movement. Scoring for the Gold team were Stewart Olson (2 goals), Ethan Tousignant, Tucker Garrity and Kyle Roche who was set-up by textbook downfield passing of Garrity to Tousignant to Roche. Max Goldstein and Owen Rahr played aggressive defense to limit the scoring chances.
Newtown Junior Gold 12, Stratford 6: Bubba Condon and Matt Bouton scored multiple goals to lead Newtown Gold. Newtownâs defense was highlighted by big checks and domination on ground balls from Jake Lambert and Shey Demarche. Chris Brown and Michael Cirone also scored goals for Newtown.
Newtown Junior Gold 10, Danbury 1: Pressing defense from midfielder Connor Hanley and defenseman Matt White shut down Danburyâs offense. Ben Payne, Logan Walsh and Bubba Condon scored goals from midfield. Andrew Tousignant, Matt Bouton, Joey Santella and Colin Reilly scored goals.
Newtown Junior Gold 9, Eli 2: Newtown won the battle for ground balls with Nolan Fisher and Matt Bouton leading the pack. Austin Babyak, Conrad Morris and Logan Walsh all contributed assists in the victory.
Newtown Senior Gold 7, Westport Seniors 2: The defense was solid with Jack Kearney, Tom Bauer, Brian Kruger and Pat Thornberg leading the way. Evan Isaacs was sharp in the goal with 9 saves. Midfielders Stephen Walsh, Tyler Hanley and Phil Reynolds worked hard to control the field of play. James Marusi was solid at his long stick middie position. Attackmen Dan Hebert and Graham Derrickson anchored the gold team around the net. Derrickson had 2 goals and 3 assists, Rodbell scored a goal, Hebert netted a goal and 3 assists, Walsh scored and Marusi had 2 goals and an assist.
Newtown Lightning Gold 12, Norwalk Lightning White 2: Nick Genovese, Matt Meyers and Ryan Marusi each scored 2 goals for Newtown. Austin LeBlanc, Quinn Helmig, Colin McCafferty, Scott Bauer, Jared Pearson and Patrick Conte scored goals. Assists from Peyton Manning and Mitchell Savoca along with strong ground ball performances by Kris Whelan and Grant Varnum helped the team to their fourth straight win to start the season.
Newtown Lightning Gold 13, John Jay Lightning Black 13: Peyton Manning and Jared Pearson provided the leadership that was needed for a Newtown team playing four players short. Pearson scored 5 goals and Manning dominating ground balls and added 2 goals. Ryan Marusi also had 2 goals. Strong defense by Patrick Conte and Charlie Fletcher along with many saves from goaltender Jeremy Solaris kept Newtown in the game. Goals were also scored by Austin LeBlanc, Matt Meyers and Charlie Fletcher.
Newtown Senior Blue 8, Norwalk 4: JP Kitzmiller found the back of the net four times and Jon Meyers dished out 4 assists to go along with his goal. Steve Rahr and Anders Fogelberg worked hard at moving the ball through the attack area. Andrew Derrickson led the team with 8 ground balls to go with his 2 goals. Andrew Volkers, Pat Cain and Nick Fatse played aggressive defense, limiting Norwalk to just 8 shots on goal.
