Critique DEI(J), Not Our Kids And School Board Members

To the Editor:

As a frequent attendee of BOE meetings, and reader of “The Hive,” I’ve noted constant critiquing by some of Newtown’s students in regard to “supposed” racial insensitivity, “slurs,” and worse. This, they say, is proof of the need for DEI(J) remediation. (The “J” indicating Newtown is not only deficient in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, but also social “Justice.”)

I disagree. I say we need to critique DEIJ far more than our kids or our Board.

It isn’t our kids who are constantly instigating racial tensions by accusing our students, parents, teachers and community of being racist … it’s DEIJ. And why should anyone be surprised if an occasional kid acts consistent with what DEIJ is telling them they are in the first place … it’s called “self-fulfilling prophecy”.

It isn’t kids who have brought a fanatical obsession with race, sex and gender into our schools. They didn’t think up “Equity Clubs” and “Equity Closets” to encourage young people to explore alternate gender identities, cross-dress, change their names, and explore transitioning options without their parent’s knowledge. No, it was DEIJ.

It wasn’t kids who came up with the avalanche of adjectives and pronouns now overwhelming us like “Womxn” and “Latinx”, both of which I believe most women abhor, but must now accept, or be canceled.

They didn’t think up “Privilege Walks” to humiliate white students or turn “Affirmative Action” into entrenched systemic racism against white males and Asians in direct violation of Title 6 and Title 9 of the Civil Rights act of 1964. It was DEIJ.

Kids didn’t think up so-called “Restorative” justice which allows offenders to offend and re-offend in institutional secrecy with consequences that encourage bad behavior, not deter it. It was DEIJ.

I ask Newtown to consider what I believe — that Americans are fleeing DEIJ cities and states … not flocking to them. Support the reformers on our BOE who are the only thing standing between our kids and the racial/ gender chaos DEIJ produces wherever it has been implemented.
