April 23 Is Lose The Litter Day
What makes Newtown the great place to live that it is? Is it excellent schools, plentiful parks, the flagpole, its country setting, or is it the overall beauty of our town?
While all of the above are factors, organizers of the annual Lose The Litter effort believe the beauty of Newtown is one of the most important reasons so many people love this place.
For those who agree, Newtown Lions Club is offering its annual chance to help keep the town looking lovely.
The Lose the Litter Day event is once again part of the Newtown Earth Day Festival, returning to the front lawn of Newtown Middle School, 11 Queen Street, on Saturday, April 23. The Lions will have a table set up for Lose The Litter efforts from 9 am until 1 pm (the festival runs 10 am to 4 pm).
Participants are urged to provide their own gloves but will be provided with bags.
Anyone with a particular road they would like to clean will be welcomed. The Lions will also have a list of the roads in town, with suggestions for any individual, couple, family, or group that wants to take on an assignment.
Signing up is not mandatory, but helpful for planning supplies and assignments. Go to newtownnc.galaxydigital.com or contact Gordon Williams at 203-405-6392 for details or registration ahead of Saturday.
“We hope any of you reading this will come and help us keep Newtown beautiful,” Williams said.
