NHS ‘Artists On The Rise’
BROOKFIELD — Newtown High School students Gabriella Arguello and Leah Rojas both have earned awards in Brookfield Craft Center’s “Artists On The Rise” art show,” which is on view in person until March 27.
As announced by NHS art teacher Kymberly Noone, Gabriella earned third place for the Vision Drawing Single Media category, and Leah earned first place for the Detached Painting Mixed Media category.
According to Noone, “Artists On The Rise” is a collection of works from students in ninth to twelfth grade. While most come from students in the greater Danbury area, student work from other parts of Connecticut are represented as well.
The exhibition includes works from 100 students in a wide range of media, including photography, ceramics, painting, drawing, and more. The inspiration for their work comes from their own experiences reflecting a diverse exploration of creative endeavors.
This juried event provides young artists the opportunity to have their work shown to the public in a professional environment. Awards are given across media and for best-in-show, according to Noone.
The Brookfield Craft Center is located at 286 Whisconier Rd. For more information about the center, including open hours, see its website brookfieldcraft.org.
