RIDGEFIELD — Ridgefield Theater Barn (RTB) has brought its annual “Evening of One-Acts” back to the stage with hilarious results.

Written by four adroit playwrights, the work is being performed and directed by a plethora of talent whose combined efforts make make for a very amusing evening of theater.

Seven plays in total are performed during the evening, or afternoon in some cases, and each offers a unique take on an otherwise humdrum situation. The very clever playwrights include Joe Carlisle for The Voyage and A1 with Meatballs, both classic screwball comedies; Scott Mullen for Third Window from the Right, a look into the soul of a benign stalker, of sorts; Linda Bidwell for The Spoiler (the title says it all); Donna Hoke for both Face Time and Survival Strategy, with each piece offering unique insights into the everyday; and Kate Katcher for Scarsdale, a sweet tale of love lost and found, maybe.

The performers included Joshua Adelson, Kristin Aug, Tim Brandt, TJ Cequeria, Elayne Gordon, Jennifer Hankla, Rob Hunt, Pamme Jones, Aaron Kaplan, Roberta Robinson, Bonnie Rose, Benna Strober, Emily Volpintesta and Bill Warncke. All are remarkably entertaining and truly fun to watch.

Like short stories, the one acts each capsulized a situation and play that single concept to completion. Each piece is perfectly structured and presents rich characters, revealing the perfect micro plays they are.

The focused and relatable nature of each of the pieces results in a happy anticipation for the next treat. The audience wasn’t quite ready for it to end.

Credit goes to the Ridgefield Theater Barn for producing the One Acts year after year in order to create a space for new work to be seen and heard. This year’s roster of plays was worth the wait.

Make every effort to get to RTB and catch these little beauties.

Performances continue weekends to April 2, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Visit ridgefieldtheaterbarn.org for ticket prices, reservations, and other information.
