The Choose Love Book Club, a free virtual monthly book discussion where people join together to connect, learn, and share insights after reading interesting and engaging books, will host Steve Pemberton during its next gathering.

On Wednesday, February 23, the group will cover The Lighthouse Effect: How Ordinary People Can Have an Extraordinary Impact in the World. The 60-minute program will begin at 7 pm.

The author says the book “is intended to take you on that journey of discovery about your own life and the power your life has to impact and touch another.” The Lighthouse Effect features inspiring stories of how some people’s lives are “human lighthouses,” and offers practical encouragement for how to become a “human lighthouse” for others that will ultimately renew your hope in humanity.

The author will be joining the discussion to share how he found a “lighthouse” in an ordinary man, his former high school counselor, John Sykes, who gave Pemberton a safe harbor after he escaped an abusive foster home. Together they navigated a new path that led to personal and professional success.

Through stories of people such as Sykes and several others, readers can identify how hardships they have overcome equip them to be a “human lighthouse,” inspiring others as well.

Released in September by Zondervan, The Lighthouse Effect is Pemberton’s second book.

The program link will be shared upon registration, which can be done at chooselovemovement.org/choose-love-book-club.

The Choose Love Book Club has announced its February title and guest author.
