Alex Schmidt scored his first career high school goal, assisted by James Celentano and Cam Gouveia, on a powerplay. Goaltender Markus Paltauf made 23 saves.

Newtown-New Fairfield took on the Shepaug co-op at Danbury Ice Arena on January 18 and lost 2-1 in OT. Schmidt scored on a rebound of a shot by Celentano. Paltauf made 23 saves. The Hawks outshot the Shepaug co-op 26-25.

After beating on the Southington co-op 4-1 in Danbury on Wednesday the Hawks take a week off and visit Masuk of Monroe, at the Rinks at Shelton, on Wednesday, January 26; faceoff is at 8 pm. Read about the win over Southington in the January 28 print edition of The Bee.
