Cavalier Farm Riders Excel In Regional Finals

Eight Newtown members of the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) Hunt Seat High School and Middle School Teams at Cavalier Farm in Southbury participated in Regional Finals at Terry Allen Farm in Terryville, on December 12.

Newtown students put in successful team rides for the High School and Middle School Teams during the regional competition. Several local riders received the region’s High Point Award for the season.

From the Middle School Team, Middle Gate Elementary fourth-grader Reese Gagnon qualified for Zone Finals with a first place ribbon in the Future Beginner on the Flat class. NMS seventh-grader Sierra Marx took home the regional horsemanship quiz award.

Clara D’Amico and Puma Marx, both sophomores at NHS, qualified for Zone Finals with their first place rides in the Individual Varsity and Junior Varsity on the Flat classes.

The IEA Zone Finals will be held on April 2, 2022 at the Big E in Springfield, Mass.
