To the Editor:

As a candidate for the Board of Assessment Appeals, I’ve seen first-hand that the Democrats have a hard orking, smart, caring group of candidates running for office here in Newtown.

You may have had someone knock on your door or call you to ask about your concerns for Newtown and to let you know that you can get a no-excuse absentee ballot this year. This group of candidates has been out there listening to all of you talk about what you want for our beautiful town, and what you appreciate about our Democratic leadership of the past few years.

Many people have talked about how wonderful it is to have roads paved and resurfaced, without unsightly plastic bags along the sides. Others have talked about safety; our elected officials have had difficult decisions to make in order to keep us all safe. People have stressed how important it is to them to know that these decisions have been based on science and on facts.

Democrats bring strong services together with fiscal responsibility; people have said they appreciate that our taxes have not increased.

Democrats support excellence in education; we want our future in the hands of well educated citizens, and we know that the value of our homes depends on having an excellent school system.

Democrats want future generations to be able to grow up in a healthy environment.

Democrats stand for equity and opportunity for everyone in Newtown.

Please remember to vote on November 2; leadership matters. The Democratic candidates are listening to you, and will work hard for you. Please join me in voting for the excellent slate of Democrats, who will provide the best possible future for you and your family.
