To the Editor:

It has been one of the greatest honors of my life to have been elected to serve two terms on the Legislative Council representing District 2 in Newtown. I will miss serving, but I am confident in the ability of my fellow residents to carry on the important community work that the council does. As such, I am writing to endorse the Democratic slate for the Legislative Council.

Dan Honan (D2), Alison Plante (D3) and Chris Smith (D3) are all incumbents, each of whom consistently participates in our council meetings with intelligence, kindness, and strength. They have each shown remarkable dedication to public service and deserve to be re-elected.

We have many new people on the slate who have stepped up to serve, as well; some who are new to town government and some who are seeking new roles, but all of whom are willing to volunteer their time to make Newtown stronger.

Chris Gardner (D1), Keith Alexander (D2) and Dr Michelle Embree Ku (D3) are true community leaders who have worked year after year for Newtown on a variety of boards and commissions. Chris, Keith, and Michelle have the courage, kindness, and experience that is needed to guide our town. Their expertise in education, finance, and municipal operations will be invaluable assets to our town.

Dr Laura Main (D1), Peter Schwarz (D1), and Robin Lynch (D2) are new candidates for town office. All three are amazing candidates who will bring fresh perspective and enthusiasm to the council.

I have gotten to know each of these candidates and wholeheartedly endorse their campaigns. Please vote Row A November 2!
