Who Arrived Through New York City
On Wednesday, March 10, at 7 pm, professional genealogist Penny Hartzell will be the featured speaker for The Genealogy Club of Newtown.
Meetings are held in the community room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, and visitors and new members are always welcome. There is no charge.
Ms Hartzellâs presentation will explain how to trace ancestors who came to the United States through New York City, including immigrants who arrived at Castle Garden and immigrants who arrived at Ellis Island.
Ms Hartzell was elected president of the Connecticut Professional Genealogistâs Council in 2009. She is also a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania. In addition to serving as assistant librarian at the LDS Family History Center in Newtown, Ms Hartzell recently started a Genealogy Lab at the Woodbury Senior Community Center.
The clubâs speaker series will continue on April 14, when Peg Limbacher, vice president of the St Andrews Society of Connecticut, will discuss how to research Scottish genealogy.
