SHS Shows Bus Drivers Appreciation
Sandy Hook Elementary School students showed appreciation for their bus drivers on Friday, September 24, when fourth graders displayed signs they made and delivered gift bags.
Sandy Hook School Principal Dr Kathy Gombos organized fourth grade students ahead of dismissal to hold the signs and deliver the gift bags. One fourth grade student was assigned to each school bus to show their own bus driver how much the school appreciates them.
When asked why the school wanted to show its appreciation, Dr Gombos said the bus drivers have a tough job and their efforts are appreciated.
Each fourth grade held a sign that read, “We [heart]” then the bus number and the driver’s name. The gift bags included candy and a poem that read, “We apHERSHEYate you! Thanks for your commitMINT. You’ve gone the EXTRA mile. You deserve a BREAK. For the Miles & Miles you drive. You’ve been a real LIFESAVER. We hope this gives you the BURST of energy you need to keep up the great work!”
As the students, one by one, boarded their buses to head home for the weekend, they handed their bus driver the sign and gift bags.
