This week’s planned Walk & Talk with First Selectman Rosenthal is being postponed to Friday, September 3.

The predicted temperatures and heat index for Friday, August 27, led to the postponement of this week’s program.

For these outdoor events, residents are invited to join their first selectman for a walk around the town-owned campus. The starting point is the southern entrance of Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street.

The third year of Walk & Talk with First Selectman Rosenthal was launched on August 13. That afternoon, the group visited NewSylum Brewing Company, the Victory Garden, and Washington Square. At the final stop, they viewed doors and windows painted by local artists as part of a continuing Newtown Cultural Arts Commission project.

The 45-minute walks follow varying routes. Those who join Rosenthal are encouraged to talk about town-related topics.

Reservations are not needed.

Sue Marcinek, Rosenthal’s executive assistant, has confirmed that after the September 3 program, the remainder of the Walk & Talk schedule — every other Friday, to October 22 — will continue as planned. Rosenthal will do a Walk & Talk on September 10, as originally planned.
