Thomas Peter Rodbell, age 34, of Sandy Hook, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 20. Thomas was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on July 10, 1987, to Kathleen M. Moonan and Kenneth P. Rodbell. Thomas was a 2019 graduate of the Southern University of New Hampshire, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business and was enrolled in their MS business program at the time of his passing. Tom (known as “Tommy” by his family) was passionate about sports and was an avid Orioles, Colts, Capitals, and RPI hockey fan.

Tommy loved a spirited political debate, sharing his love of power boats, and playing the piano, cello, and drums. He could listen to music by the hour, and he was always blasting it loud enough for all to hear. Tommy was most happy at the family camp in New Hampshire, with his boat in the water, music blasting, and cooking dinner for all. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Tommy knew he had a kind, generous heart. He dedicated his life to his friends and family and was always willing to extend a helping hand to those in need. He celebrated the joy found in everyday life and always made time for those he loved.

Thomas is survived by his loving parents, his sister, Elizabeth (Beth), and his brother, Parker. He also leaves behind both of his grandmothers, Marie M. Moonan of Pittsford, N.Y., and Adele P. Rodbell of Richmond, Mass., many aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins, and his loving girlfriend, Christin Rizzi.

He was predeceased by his grandfathers, Thomas P. Moonan and Donald S. Rodbell.

Please join the family in celebrating Tommy’s life on Sunday, August 29, at 1 pm, at the Country Club of Waterbury, 1 Oronoke Road, Waterbury, CT 06708.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Thomas’s name to the newtownparentconnection.org.

Tommy will remain forever in our hearts. We know he is living in God’s amazing grace. We love and miss you... until we meet again — Rest in peace our son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend.
