Cub Scouts Planning Saturday Bicycle Rodeo
Newtown Cub Scouts Pack 270 is planning a bicycle rodeo for this weekend.
According to organizers, a bicycle rodeo teaches bicycle safety and how to maneuver and maintain control of a bicycle through different obstacles. The event is a fun way to teach bicycle safety and promote Cub Scouts in Newtown.
The free event will take place Saturday, July 17, from 9 am until 11:30 am. It will be in the parking lot of St Rose of Lima School, 40 Church Hill Road. It is geared toward children entering Grades 1-4.
Children should bring their bicycles. Helmets are mandatory; sunscreen and water are suggested.
Members of the Newtown Police Department will also be there, around 9 am, according to organizers, to talk about bicycle safety.
