Frank P. Bergonzi, Sr

Frank P. Bergonzi, Sr, of Newtown and Madison, Conn., passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, July 2. He was the son of the late Jenni and Benvenuto Bergonzi and was born September 23, 1929, on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Frank was married to the love of his life, Vivian, who entered heaven in August 2020. They were married 66 years and built a loving home in Closter, N.J.

He leaves behind his five children, Janice (Mark) Constantino, Margaret (Christopher) Gargiulo, Frank Jr (Mary-Lisa), Katherine (Enrico) Recine, and Linda (Bobby) King; as well as his brother-in-law, John (Cyndy) Mauro. He was the proud grandfather of Mark Jr, Alyssa, Julie, and Dan (Kelsey) Constantino, Vivianna McNees (Alec), Frank III, Grace Bergonzi, Emily and Carly Recine, and Evan and Jaden King; and great-grandfather of Benjamin Constantino. He adored his goddaughters, Linda Scinto, Margaret Bergamini, and Susannah Mauro Durbin, and godson, Roger Mosconi.

The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to his caregiver, Shirley Ntloko.

Frank graduated from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and was a successful mechanical engineer. He founded Betco Associates and was self-employed for most of his career. He loved his family tremendously and enjoyed traveling, planting gardens, and winter Sundays attending New York Giants home games with his son. He will be eternally missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Msgr Robert E. Weiss at St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, on Wednesday, July 7. Private entombment was at Queen of Peace Mausoleum, Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, N.Y.

Honan Funeral home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, was in charge of arrangements.
