With its soft opening on June 15, the Newtown Farmers Market is ready for summer.

Just minutes after it opened, market managers Sean Fitzpatrick of Real Food Share and Andrea Saunders observed the clear sky, dotted with just a few soft clouds instead of the expected rain clouds, and shoppers starting to arrive.

“So far, so good,” said Fitzpatrick within the first ten minutes.

The market will return to Fairfield Hills every Tuesday, from 2 to 6:30 pm, through October.

The vendors who will participate in this year’s Newtown Farmers Market were announced the week before the soft opening. This year’s vendors are expected to be Shortt’s Farm, produce; Waldingfield Farm, produce; Daffodil Hill Growers, produce and flowers; Real Food Share, produce; Carrot Top Kitchens, soups, and pickles; Wonderland Jam, jams, jellies, preserves, marmalades; Sugar Magnolia Bakery, cupcakes, donuts, cookies; Nick’s Catering, prepared meals; Down to Earth Apiaries, honey; Upper Grassy Greens, microgreens; Aquarian Catering, prepared meals; Oronoque Farms, pies; South Ridge Farm, flowers; Beldotti’s, bread, pesto, mozzarella; Dani’s Pantry, prepared meals; The Healing Herb Garden, elderberry-based syrups, jams, soaps, baked goods; Sonny’s Grinders, food truck; Little Kernel, kettle corn; and C.H.
