Resident Combining Yoga And Craft Beer To Raise Money For Those Living With ALS
The Susie Foundation is holding its first Pours + Poses event on Saturday, June 26, at Reverie Brewing Company. The event starts at 10:15 am and each ticket purchased includes an all-level yoga class taught by a certified instructor and one free post-yoga pint courtesy of The Susie Foundation.
Pours + Poses was created by Newtown resident Julia Murphy, who is a member of the Susie Foundation board.
“I wanted to find a way of combining my love of yoga with helping families living with ALS,” said Murphy. Working with the local brewery, Murphy put together an engaging and mindful yoga event where the proceeds will benefit the Susie Foundation’s work supporting families living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) across southern New England.
While Murphy is organizing the event, it will be her mother, Cythia Bearison, who will be leading the class.
“I’ve been studying and practicing yoga for over 20 years,” Bearison said. “I have a love of teaching gentle yoga and meditation, inviting students to find what works for their personal journey.
“My overall approach is focused on creating a safe and accessible environment for all while inviting a deep awareness of the mind/body connection,” she said.
Tickets for June 26 event are $20, and available at www.bit.ly/poursandposes. Each ticket includes one pint at Reverie. The brewery is at 57-B Church Hill Road.
There is also a Zoom option for those who cannot attend in person. Those tickets are $10, and available through the same link.
