Protect Our Pollinators (POP) would like to thank everyone who came out on Saturday, May 15, to help cut invasive Japanese Knotweed near the Fruit Trail at Fairfield Hills.

Special thanks to the NEAT and Real Food Share volunteers who came out in force to help tackle this project and Amy Mangold and Park & Rec, not only helping to cut but also for providing a dump truck, which was filled to the brim. Volunteers also included Master Gardeners, Garden Club of Newtown, and POP members.

Japanese Knotweed is a seriously evil invasive plant much like bamboo. It spreads rapidly by seed and root rhizomes, overtaking native species and other desirable plants [and] threatening natural areas, as well as managed properties.
