To the Editor:

The upcoming special election on April 13 may have come as a surprise, but let’s make it the opportunity to bring an excellent new voice to the Connecticut Statehouse. That new voice is Nick Kapoor from Monroe, our officially nominated Democratic candidate for the 112th Assembly District of the Connecticut House of Representatives in Monroe and the Sandy Hook section of Newtown.

Nick’s a lifelong Monroe resident and has been active in our local political scene since 2011. As our State Representative, he will bring that thorough understanding of our district’s issues and challenges to the Connecticut State House. He has served on the Monroe Town Council, chair of the Monroe Democratic Town Committee, and continues to serve as an elected official on the Monroe Board of Education.

Nick has degrees in political science, mathematics and an MBA in finance from Sacred Heart University. His education will benefit our community in these challenging times of tight budgets. He’s smart and understands the importance of equal education and infrastructure improvement.

At the state level, Nick is already working for us in his role as a Commissioner of the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities (CHRO) since 2017. He knows how our Connecticut state legislature works and his determination will get results that will help our district.

We are excited to have Nick represent our family in Hartford. He understands what the local businesses need, what our district needs and what our schools need to be successful.

If you live in the 112th District and don’t feel comfortable voting in person, you can vote by absentee ballot. Download a ballot form request from Nick’s website, www.nickforct.com, and send it to the Town Clerk’s office. Don’t wait because we need your vote for Nick on April 13.
