To the Editor:

Due to the pandemic our family was not able to gather for our mom’s 103rd birthday as we are scattered over the country, but thanks to the thoughtfulness of the staff at Church Hill Village, where mom now makes her home, a great celebration took place yesterday.

We can’t thank the staff at Church Hill Village enough for their wonderful care, kindness, professionalism, and enthusiasm all of the time, but especially [February 9] for our mom. Residents came together in the Gathering Room to celebrate with mom, my husband, and me. A huge thank you to our First Selectman, Dan Rosenthal, and Monsignor Bob from St Rose for sharing in the festivities; and a special thanks to the police department who put on a show of sounds and lights with their cruisers, which delighted the residents.

You all made a lovely, spunky 103-year-old’s day a day for the memory books.

God Bless,

Karen Banks
