‘Top Ten Tech Tools For Genealogy,’ February 10
The next meeting of the Genealogy Club of Newtown is scheduled for Wednesday, February 10, at 7 pm.
The program will be done over Zoom, and those planning to attend are asked to join at 6:45 to allow time to be admitted.
The program will be “Top Ten Tech Tools for Genealogy,” and it will be presented by professional genealogist and lecturer Michael Cassara.
Based in New York City, Cassara specializes in Italian/Sicilian genealogy and genealogical technology.
Cassara earned a certificate in genealogical research from Boston University and is a graduate of the ProGen Study Group. He currently serves as president of the Italian Genealogical Group and he blogs about research at digiroots.net.
He also is a member of the Genealogical Speakers Guild and speaks widely at genealogy conferences, society meetings, and other events.
In his “other” life, Cassara is a casting director who has cast more than 500 musicals, plays, and movies. As he points out, he is a people person — it just depends which hat he’s wearing as to whether the people are alive.
The program will offer a detailed exploration of some of the latest tech tools and platforms, in addition to surveying some new and outside-the-box ways in which genealogists might accomplish their most common tasks.
All are welcome to participate in the Genealogy Club’s Zoom meetings, free of charge. Registration is required by February 8 and can be done via e-mail to genclubnewtownct.secretary@gmail.com. The e-mail should include name, address, and phone number.
An invitation to join the meeting will serve as registration confirmation.
