To the Editor:

On behalf of Newtown’s American Legion Post 202, I would like to thank The Newtown Bee for the article advising people about our clothing fundraiser. The COVID-19 virus caused us to cancel our “normal” fundraising events in 2020, yet we were fortunate to conduct the clothing drive this January.

The Newtown Bee’s editorial content was instrumental in our success this past month spreading the word of our fundraiser. It’s nice to have and know our hometown newspaper is more than willing to help get the word out for all local organizations and informing the town residents of events. Post 202 raised 1,301 pounds of clothes; our success was in part because of your news coverage.

Many thanks for all that helped make this a successful event.
