Scouts from Troop 270 in Newtown will continue picking up Christmas trees from the homes of residents in Newtown and Sandy Hook this coming weekend.

The troop is asking for a $10 donation for each pickup. Proceeds will support the scouts of Troop 270, and the trees will also be used to support a local conservation project with Candlewood Valley Trout Unlimited.

To sign up for tree pickup, visit the troop’s Facebook page — search for Troop270NewtownChristmasTreePickup. The online form can also be accessed directly at https://tinyurl.com/y93w33eo. Appointments are available for January 9-10.

For additional information, the troop can be reached at troop270trees@gmail.com.

All of the tress picked up last weekend were dropped off at the Candlewood Valley Trout Unlimited conservation project off Old Farm Road.

“They are looking for 70 to 80 trees, for which we will supply a good portion,” Troop 270 Assistant Scoutmaster Alan Blatter noted.
