The first meeting of the 2018-19 season of the Genealogy Club of Newtown will be in the lower meeting room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, on Wednesday, September 12.

The meeting will begin at 7 pm, but all are invited to arrive early for light refreshments and socializing.

The speaker will be Penelope Hartzell, who will offer a presentation on “The Ten Best Free Genealogy Websites.” Guests will not only learn about Ms Hartzell’s favorites, where much of their genealogical research can be taken care of, they will also learn where they can use many fee-based sites without charge.

The Genealogy Club of Newtown has a dedicated computer installed at the Newtown library where a number of genealogy sites can be accessed. Club member Bea Morgan is available on Monday afternoons between 2 and 4 pm for anyone with questions or seeking help.

Ms Hartzell’s will be a “live on the Internet” presentation, so those planning to attend are encouraged to bring laptops.

Meetings are free of charge and held the second Wednesday of the month, September through June. Annual memberships are $20 for an individual, $30 for a family. Contact Ms Morgan for information at 203-304-1861.
