Newtown Lights 2020: Light Show & More Coming To Fairfield Hills
Newtown Community Center and Newtown Chamber of Commerce are spreading holiday cheer this year on the Fairfield Hills campus with a new event: Newtown Lights 2020.
“We know the holidays are a bit different this year and still want to bring the community together to honor the spirit of the holidays. Buckle up and join us,” says Community Center Director Matt Ariniello.
On Saturday and Sunday, December 12-13, from the comfort of one’s vehicle, a winter wonderland drive-thru event with a socially distant visit from Santa himself will be presented.
Following the drive-thru a 16-minute professional musical holiday light show will commence on Kent House.
Children will be able to drop their letters off to Santa at the Drive Thru North Pole Express Mailbox. Outdoor holiday performances by Newtown’s Rockettes — featuring students from Lathrop School of Dance, Ashurst Academy of Irish Dance, and Newtown Centre of Classical Ballet & Voice — will also be part of the event, as will in-vehicle caroling.
Attendees will also experience decorated vehicles while you drive through the campus. Participants are also invited to join in the fun by decorating their own vehicle for the experience.
The holiday spectacular is sponsored by Newtown Medi Spa and Newtown Savings Bank.
Cost per car is $20 per car load. Half hour slots, beginning at 4 pm and continuing until 8:30 pm, are available. Registration can be done through eventbrite.com.
Originally planned for just one night, Ariniello told The Newtown Bee on November 20 that the sales for December 13 went so well, a second night was added for the weekend offering.
