“Members Of Newtown Buy Nothing Chapter Prove There Is ‘Nothing Greater Than Love,’” by Shannon Hicks, published November 16. Until recently, Margit Johnson was unfamiliar with the Buy Nothing Project. Johnson began hearing about it in September, after her friend reached out to the members of the local chapter, Buy Nothing Newtown (BNN). That led to her being Johnson was surrounded by love — and contributions — from people in the local chapter, strangers who offered items to decorate the Little Neck, N.Y., church hall where Johnson’s bridal shower took place. “Newtown COVID Cases On Track To Surpass 500 As National Death Toll Tops Quarter Million,” by John Voket, published November 19. As of that week if positive COVID cases continued increasing, the Newtown Health District was projecting to track more than 500 positive cases by the weekend — at least 100 of which were currently active. “Champs! Boys’ Booters Capture SWC North Division Title,” by Andy Hutchison, published November 14. Newtown High School’s boys’ soccer team, its roster loaded with varsity-experienced seniors, was made to win this fall. And the Nighthawks certainly did their share of coming out on top, going unbeaten and all the way to the South-West Conference North Division Tournament championship.
