To the Editor:

I process voter registrations. When you enter your information online, it says it takes three weeks. Some offices, during normal times, only work once or twice a month. Our office is open Tuesday and Thursday, 8 am-1 pm, during normal times. We are open much more than that right now. So it is days at the most, not weeks.

If you check your registration online and it says inactive, you need to reregister. If you have moved, you need to register where you live.

Once we have processed your registration, you will receive a letter of acceptance. If you are told to print after entering your information, please print and sign the paper and then send it to 3 Primrose Street, Newtown CT 06470. Once we receive that signed paper, we can finish your registration. This occurs when you do not use your driver’s license number.

It is easy to register online. Go to ct.gov and put “register to vote” in the search bar. Then you just enter the information and hit enter. If it says print, then make sure you print and mail it in. You will not get registered until we receive it.

Thank you for registering and voting.

Jan Silver, Assistant Registrar

3 Primrose Street, Newtown October 13, 2020
