Pool Records Broken By Swim Team
Newtown High School’s girls’ swimming and diving team highlighted its 94-87 win over visiting New Milford on October 9 with a pair of pool record-setting performances.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Caroline Mahoney, Norah Kolb, Payton Bradley, and Brianna Deierlein broke the record with a time of 1:41.84, and Deierlein set a new mark in the 200 free, clocking in with a time of 1:58.60.
In the 200 medley relay race, Newtown’s Mahoney, Cate Fischer, Kolb, and Bradley came in first in 1:55.91.
Kolb won the 200 individual medley race in a time of 2:23.16. Bradley had Newtown’s best time in the 50 free and placed second in 25.80. Deierlein was second in the 100 butterfly race in 1:01.30. Kolb came out on top in the 100 free with a time of 57.19. In the 500 free, Sofia Doersch took first, making her final touch in 5:33.62. Mahoney was first in the 100 backstroke event with a time of 1:07.69. Cate Fischer was first in the 100 breaststroke event in 1:13.44.
Newtown’s 400 free relay of Doersch, Diellza Limani, Anna Shew, and Deierlein was first in 3:57.75.
